東京大学大学院博士課程修了。
専門は植物 (主にタンポポ) の進化や生態。
博士 (学術)。植物学者、文筆家。
農業環境技術研究所、国立科学博物館
などでのタンポポ研究を経て、
企画と執筆の「たんぽぽ工房」を設立。
文筆業を中心に、大学での講義やタンポポ研究、
講演会、草花散歩会などを行っている。
2021年度より中学校教科書の『新しい国語1』(東京書籍)に
「私のタンポポ研究」が掲載中。
