Criteria for Degree Examination

Criteria for Degree Examination (M.A. Degree)

Evaluation of “M.A. Thesis” and “M.A. Graduation Work” will be made according to the criteria outlined below.

1. Evaluation Criteria for M.A. Thesis
(1) The research demonstrates a clear awareness of the research questions and it has academic and social significance
(2) The research demonstrates originality
(3) The research outcome is logically explained
(4) The research method is carefully examined
(5) The research appropriately mentions and understands prior studies to develop the argument
(6) The research uses appropriate wording, phrasing and format as an academic thesis. Appropriate citation of documents, illustrations and charts,
(7) The research does not violate copyright, image rights, and other rights that belong to people other than the writer himself/herself

2. Evaluation Criteria for M.A. Graduation Work
(1) The work demonstrates the academic and social significance
(2) The work demonstrates originality
(3) The completed work employs advanced expressive techniques and ideas
(4) The work does not violate copyright, image rights, and other rights that belong to people other than the writer himself/herself

Criteria for Degree Examination (Ph.D. Degree)

Evaluation of “Ph.D. Dissertation” and “Ph.D. Work and Thesis” will be made according to the criteria outlined below.

1. Evaluation Criteria for Ph.D. Dissertation
(a) For “Ph.D. Work and Thesis”
(1) The research demonstrates a clear awareness of the basis of the issue and it has academic significance and originality
(2) The relationship between Ph.D. Work and Thesis is clear
(3) The research outcome is constructed upon the original research theory
(4) The research appropriately mentions, evaluates and correctly understands the prior studies to develop the argument
(5) The research employs appropriate and effective methodologies for its subject
(6) The research does not violate copyright, image rights, and other rights that belong to people other than the writer himself/herself
(7) The research uses appropriate wording, phrasing and format as an academic thesis. Appropriate citation from documents, illustrations and charts,

(b) For “Ph.D. Dissertation” only
(1) The research question is clearly constructed upon the accumulated knowledge of the research field and it has academic significance and originality.
(2) The research meets the standard that contributes to the development of the research field and society
(3) The research demonstrates a novel outcome and methodology that is constructed upon the original research theory
(4) The research appropriately mentions, evaluates and correctly understands the prior studies to develop the argument
(5) The research employs an appropriate and effective methodology for its subject
(6) The research does not violate copyright, image rights, and other rights that belong to people other than the writer himself/herself
(7) The research uses appropriate wording, phrasing and format as an academic thesis. Appropriate citation from documents, illustrations and charts,

2. Evaluation Criteria for Ph.D. Work (Only for “Ph.D. Work and Thesis”)
(1) The work demonstrates originality
(2) The work demonstrates high-skilled expressive techniques and profound ideas
(3) The work meets the standard that contributes to the development of the research field and society
(4) The work is compatible with domestic and international standards
(5) The research does not violate copyright, image rights, and other rights that belong to people other than the writer himself/herself
