The Utsunuki-Hachioji Campus, University of Art and Design, Tokyo<\/h2>\n

\n The Utsunuki-Hachioji Campus was designed by Arata Isozaki and its main concept of was \u201cto utilize the natural landscape\u201d. Studios, ateliers and the University Museum that nurture and stimulate students\u2019 artistic creativities are situated in the gently undulating wooded hills of Hachioji. <\/p>\n

Building no. 1: Main Building<\/h2>\n

The Administration Offices and Student Centers are located here. The first floor consists of two lecture theatres (capacity of 158 each) equipped with audiovisual facilities, and the Student Support Center. Administration Offices such as the Registrar\u2019s Office, Campus-Life Office, Admissions Office, and Career Center are located on the second floor. Professor\u2019s offices can be found on the third and fourth floors of this building. In the center of the fourth floor there is a lounge with a view. The Student Counseling Center is in the first basement floor. <\/p>\n

Building no. 2: Classroom Building A<\/h2>\n

Class rooms for lectures and studio courses are located in this building. Each room is equipped with audio-visual apparatuses, These room are primarily used for Language courses and the undergraduate Comprehensive Subjects courses. <\/p>\n

Building no. 3: Classroom Building B<\/h2>\n

Class rooms for lectures and practical\/studio courses are located in this building. Each room is equipped with audio-visual apparatuses. These room are primarily used for seminar courses and undergraduate Comprehensive Subjects courses. <\/p>\n

Building no.4: Kuwasawa Memorial Hall (Lecture Hall)<\/h2>\n

This building was built in commemoration of the founder, Yoko Kuwasawa. The hall consists of 5 lecture halls all equipped with audio-visual apparatuses. The holding capacities for the halls are as follows: 1 halls with 325 seats, 2 halls with 232 seats, and 2 halls with 188 seats. <\/p>\n

Building no. 5: Library<\/h2>\n

Entrance to the library is located through the third-floor entrance. The library holds approximately 140,000 books and catalogues, 700 titles of periodicals and magazines, and numerous audio-visual resources. All materials except rare valuable books may be borrowed out by the proper check-out procedure. <\/p>\n

Building no. 6: Museum<\/h2>\n

The museum was established to house the works of the contemporary Italian Sculptor, Jacomo Manzu. Manzu\u2019s works are on permanent display, but students\u2019 works are also displayed in the form of temporary exhibitions. The museum is also used as a site for practical training in conservation and curation, where students develop their skills as curators. It is also used as venue for the ZOKEI Festival. <\/p>\n

Building no. 7: Design Building A<\/h2>\n

This building consists of studios for practical courses. On each floor, there are studios used mainly for those who specialize in photography, film, interior design, textiles design such as photograph studios, dark-rooms, Audio-Visual recording booths, equipment rooms, and dye rooms.
\nThe Equipment Management Office is located on the second floor. These facilities and support technicians prepare the required equipment for classes and support student\u2019s studies and research.<\/p>\n

Building no. 8: Design Building B<\/h2>\n

The CS Hall, used mainly as the gymnasium and multipurpose hall, and classrooms for specialized studio courses are located in this building. These rooms are primarily used by students who specialize in graphic design, animation studies, media-design, and industrial design. <\/p>\n

Building no. 9: CS-Lab<\/h2>\n

The CS-Lab (Creative Spiral Lab) was created for students to pursue and deepen their thoughts and ideas on the ideals of education. It is open to all students, where students of various fields engage in active interaction. <\/p>\n

Building no. 10: CS PLAZA\uff08Painting Building & Cafeteria\uff09<\/h2>\n

The CS PLAZA opened in September 2010. It consists of studios and ateliers for students majoring in painting. Recreational facilities such as the cafeteria, kiosks, the Students Association Room and Club Rooms are also located here. <\/p>\n

The tables and chairs in the cafeteria are designed by Taiji Fujimori, an alumni of the university. On the roof, a solar panel of 15KW is installed from which a portion of the electricity used within the university is generated. On the left wall as you enter the CS-PLAZA, there is a panel indicating the amount of power generated. You cans see the difference in the power generated according to weather conditions.<\/p>\n

Building no. 11: Sculpture Building<\/h2>\n

Ateliers for students specializing in sculpture are located here. Classes on modeling and wood sculptures are held her according to students\u2019 years and areas of studies. <\/p>\n

Building no. 12: Graduate School Building<\/h2>\n

Building no. 12 was constructed in conjunction with the establishment of the Graduate School. It functions both as a central facility for graduate students to pursue their research and thesis works, as well as an exhibition space for temporary exhibitions. <\/p>\n
