This hall was built to commemorate the founder of Zokei University, Yoko Kuwasawa(1910~1977). It consists of five large lecture rooms each equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual system. In the middle of the hall stands the statue of Yoko Kuwasawa , sculptured by our Professor Emeritus, Churyo Sato. There she stands smiling softly to us forever.
This museum was built to store and exhibit the works of Giacomo Manzu, which was donated by the late Tatsuo Yokoyama, a doctor who lived in Hachioji. The official name of the museum is Tokyo Zokei University Yokoyama Memorial Manzu Art Museum. Although the works of Manzu is permanently exhibited here, there are also other exhibitions of high quality held frequently at this place.
Being in the premises of our university, it is used to teach students how to preserve the artistic works and how to plan exhibitions in real practice. Especially for the students who intend to get curator's license, there is a chance every year around University Festival in October to make a presentation of their fruit of learning at this place.
And at ZOKEI Exhibition in January, the whole university becomes the site for displaying all the graduation works and researches of every graduating student. It is a privilege for the students to be able to display the fruit of their four years in this museum.
Closed on Sundays and national holidays.
Our library is a four- storied building with the total floor space of 1800m2 . We have approximately 75,000 books and records in pictures in our collection. We also have about 670 different periodicals. There is naturally an Audio-Visual room where you can watch Audio-Visual materials. You can actually hold the books in your hands or borrow them except for certain valuable books. We keep a lot of exhibition catalogs which can be very useful.
What is notable of our library is that we keep and take care of those valuable materials like: the complete copies of LIFE magazine that was discontinued long ago, books concerning BAUHAUS, and posters of Hollywood Movies in the 1950s.
Library is a wonderful place to do the self- taught studies. The specialized staffs will support you by helping you to find out the materials you need from allover the world and to have them sent to our library. You can also do the computer search by yourself in the library via Internet.
This is a sunny spot where students can sit and relax. It is also used as a place to exhibit student's art works. This place was originally a green lawn, but the lawn did not grow well here. And the year 1996 happened to be the 30th Anniversary of our university. To celebrate the occasion, we carried out a competition for the undergraduate students and the research students to compete "to design a place that will help activate the whole university". As a result, the design made by Mr. Hashitani Noboru, a fourth year student of Design Department in 1996, was chosen to be the best. And so the Forum was made from his original design.
