Having spent over 8 weeks in Japan I feel I’ve achieved independence as an Artist. With the form class I joined in Japan I was able to show them the work I had made as well as look at their work. There was such diversity within there work. It was also interesting to hear their thoughts on my work this gave me a different perspective on my work.
With a studio space I was able to produce work straight away. This was slightly awkward as I felt I was being observed. Over time I became use to it and was able to move on with my work. All the Nasserites were available from the technician’s support and the art shop on campus. I had no problem accessing any of this as there was always someone leading me in the right direction.
The tutorials I received spread from being very basic due to the language barrier to being very understanding and a huge amount of help. Some of the classes I join while on my exchange were something I have not experienced in the UK. The extra classes I took were weaving and Digital photography. From these experiences I will carry on with Digital photography. The practical side of when we to photos around Hasimoto was very educational and new exciting way of receiving new ideas.
The whole experience of the exchange has given me confidence within my work and a direct look into foreign art. I feel this experience will be very essential as I plan to travel with my artwork.
